My Duck Call: I’m still learning.

My First Duck Hunt: I was in my 20s and working in Little Rock when I was invited to hunt in Stuttgart, AR. We killed three ducks, and I didn’t even pull the trigger. I decided that Stuttgart was overrated.

Why I Love Duck Hunting: I love wing shooting. I love to quail, pheasant and duck hunt. But duck hunting is by far my favorite.

My Favorite Duck Hunting Memory: After I purchased a piece of property along the Petit Jean River bottoms near Danville, I was told it was one of the county’s best hunting spots. And they were right. Hunting by myself, I waded out to the first tree and watched about 60 gadwalls circle and land 30 yards away, right in front of me. No call and no decoys. I killed three gadwalls and one Hooded Merganser that’s now mounted in my office. The next weekend, we limited out.

My Favorite Thing about Cypress Run: Sitting on the back porch at the lodge watching the ducks roost. A close second: The smell of bacon frying in the blind.

My Favorite Meal During Duck Season: Frito chili pie with Ranch and cheddar cheese
